Arseny, this isn't the traditional ring light I use but it will work. I use this one for the floating O light effect. Just get yourself a 16 inch 40 watt daylight circle tube light and ballast from any general lighting store maybe even Lowes or HomeDepot. $40 to 50ish should do it, maybe even less. Nothing special. It's not my idea, I stole that one from a gentleman out in Chicago.

Hope that helps.
PS Don't forget to tape the bulb to the plug or else it will fall off in front of your subject and break into twelve thousand pieces.
oh wow! that's totally different from what I thought I was looking for!
Thank you very much Charles! I think i'm going to make me one of those this weekend. and I have a new project now.. going to try and see if I can make one like that that is portable and can be touched by bare hands..
May I ask a question? I also want to try that ring light (what a cool shot!), but I don't care for the ring reflections in her eyes...for my taste, it is a bit intense and alien-looking. Did you enhance those highlights in your post-processing? Or are the highlights bound to be that intense no matter what given the set-up?
this is the version I have but one generation before this. slight difference on how it is attached. Some folks try to make their own but the material, the angles all come into play over home made versions of even a tri flector.
1 has some turbo processing...when the nose/jawline starts to disappear you know it is to much.
2 is a bit up the nose...overprocessed as well.
I like 3 that is a fun shot, she looks engaged.

I've been searching for a light like this since you posted a set a while back; alas with no luck.

Should be used with ad copy for something...

Did you add the "swish" in the lower left of her eye in post or position a reflector there to add it naturally?

Nice. To me, anything that reduces post work is a beautiful thing and that image certainly is!
Not sure what an "eyelighter" is, but am assuming it's a type of reflector.

How it is lighted also comes into play.
