Final tweeks on new smug mug

Hi there

I have finally changed to the New Smug Mug. I have a few tweeks left to do.

1-On my Gallery page the folder entitled Meet the people is missing an image. How can i put one in. http://www.photito.com/Destinations

2-At the bottom of each image in any of the galleries there are key words. If you click on them they gather all images together wich have the same keywords and shows them in another gallery. I want to remove this option

3-I am having trouble with the slide show on the galleries. In some galleries the images dont show. In most galleries the images seem to be off centre or to big for the screen. I have tried changing the size on the security option but it makes no differance. The button for the speed is also missing.

4-Also i cant find the way for the text on the home page and the breadcrumbs to highlight when the mouse hovers over it.

5-I would also like to change the font on one particular gallery alone. this one http://www.photito.com/Destinations/Abyssinia

6-I have noticed that some of my images are of poor quality, but there where fine in the old site. When i look at them in the organise option they show like an eye with a line accross it. What is the problem?

7- And finally i would like to change the color of the text Photito Travel on the homepage.

Thanks and i am looking forwards to a response.

    I will try to answer a few, one by one.
    First, GORGEOUS site!

    Okay, for this one, I see you do not have any photos in the Meet gallery. You have, I think, galleries BLOCKS in the gallery, but no photos? You could add photos to the gallery Meet, which might take care of the problem. Or, go to Organizer, find the Meet gallery, click it. Then click the Settings icon at the top, and in the Basics tab, choose a feature image.

    Hah hah! I thought I would be able to help with more, but I believe most of them require CSS code in various places, which I don't feel competent to provide.

    Yes, you should be able to. Click the Home icon at the top, to go back, then navigate to a folder/gallery you want the image from.

    Alternatively you can load an image in an unlisted gallery that you consider 'storage', and then navigate to that to choose it.

    Add this to your CSS to have text links on your site highlighted (with color) when the mouse hovers over it:
    a :hover,
    a:hover {
      color: #ED9121 !important;
    }

    I have placed CSS like this in the CSS for my theme. You could also place it in a CSS block for your entire site.

    More color codes can be found at http://www.december.com/html/spec/color.html.

    Images with that notation across it have been hidden.

    Help page on hiding (or unhiding) images is at http://help.smugmug.com/customer/portal/articles/1230240-new-can-i-hide-individual-photos-in-a-gallery-.

    Add this to your CSS to change the color (after changing the color to your desired color):
    .sm-page-widget-logo .sm-page-widget-logo-text.sm-page-widget-logo-s {
        color: #FF8C00
        }

    Hi there Chancyrat

    Thanks for your help, i am afraid that i am hopeless at this so i would need clear instructions on how to actually do it. In both options you give me you talk about navigating somewhere, i don't even know what that means really. If you look at the mentioned gallery you will see that it shows that there are no uploaded photos when actually there are 5 sub galleries in there. If i upload a pic so that i can use it as the featured image then it will show that pic beside the other featured images from the sub galleries. If i go to organize then to destinations then to meet the people and to settings i can see a lot of codes under the description. This is what i was told to put there in the old site in order to create this galleries with the featured images. Now it has been past onto the new site but missing the first featured image.

    Ahh, sorry about that. Okay I'll post 3 images in 3 messages. This one first, you get there by going to Organize, click on the gallery whose image you want to set. Then click Settings at the top (I put yellow over it).

    Third, in the "Choose a photo" area, click the House icon to move back a level, to Home. From there double-click any folder icon or gallery, navigate to a photo to choose it.

    Hi Chancyrat

    It worked, thanks very much. Now there is another slight problem. I have tried to fix the featured images from the sub galleries and i have made matters worse. I copied the codes in the Description of the main gallery and then pasted them back in to see if it would make a difference. Now the text below the images do not correspond. I also still have the original problem that it states that there are no images in the gallery when in fact there are 5 sub galleries. I am sending you the code, see if you can find the problem. I would also like the 5 featured images to have a gap between them.

    I really appreciate your help.

    I cannot understand what you are trying to do. You have pasted this code in a gallery description?
    Where do you want the featured images?
    It might be easier to bring in "photo blocks" and "text blocks" for these, as you can position them more easily.

    I'm not clear on what kind of gap you want, and where, but do use <br /> instead of <br> for correct HTML. If you want spacing between the photos you can add <br/> <br/>

    Regarding " also still have the original problem that it states that there are no images in the gallery when in fact there are 5 sub galleries", a gallery is not an image. A gallery is a place that holds images. A folder holds galleries. You would need to double click one of the galleries to go into it, then find the image you want to link to.

    I'm sorry I'm not understanding all the aspects of what you are trying to do.

    This sounds like an "info" type gallery that you are using the gallery description for your html.
    The gallery would not have any photos, only those you show/link with the html. On NewSmug I'd
    use a "Page" with an added html box. Typically these would be guestbook, services, pricing,
    about, etc.

    You can use basically the same html you used in Legacy. In legacy sometimes the gallery had photos
    that were linked in the html and with CSS the photo area below was hidden. This can also be done in NewSmug
    with a gallery and hide the photos with CSS. Advantage is you knew where the photos were.

    Dear Allen nice to see you here. I can honestly say that you probably build my old site single handed. Thanks for all your past help.

    dear Allen and chancyrat everything you talk about in your last post is alian to me. So lets start from the begining forgetting what we did in the old smug mug. maybe its the best. I now have a gallery named meet the people. Inside i have a big mess with 5 sub galleries. If you click on the meet the people gallery you see the 5 featured images from the five sub galleries. The text thats supposed to be undrneath each image is all over the place. There is also no space between the images as there was in the old site. Also there is a code in the description of the meet the people gallery which i have today messed up, hence the problem with the text. There is also a space below the featured images were it states that there are no uploaded images. Now the 5 galleries also appear as unlisted on my site. Maybe the solution is to forget what we did in the old site and delete the gallery meet the people then create a new gallery were i can then place the 5 sub gallerys. Problem is i dont know how to do this.

    Ok, i have tried something differant but its not working. I now created a folder named Meet the people. I draged and droped a gallery inside. In my organiser it shows that the folder is in my destinations page. This is were all my galleries are. But when i go to the home page and then to destinations its not there.

    In terms of language, "big mess with 5 sub galleries" is not correct. What you have is a gallery with HTML, where the HTML pulls in some images and makes them clickable to direct people to the galleries where the "real" images reside.

    If you want to try to work with New Smugmug's format options, you could delete your HTML completely.
    Instead:

    - Drag gallery blocks into the gallery, and set up the links to them.
    - Add text below each gallery block, with text blocks

    I'll leave this very brief because you may be quite happy with Allen's HTML. If you want to explore the new SM options, that's another process.

    Dear ChancyRat

    I have been knocking my head against the computer and i think that maybe i should try the new way. Lets say i currently have one gallery called meet the people. I then have five other galleries named differant things which i would like to put into the meet the people gallery. Is this possible? I dont really care if they are galleries, pages or folders since i really cant make out the differance. I just want a destination on the site named meet the people and when you click on it you see five differant images for five other destinations/galleries. I hope i have explained myself ok. I know its possible i just cant get my head around it. like i said currently i have 6 galleries and i want to put the 5 into 1 and this 1 would be under the destinations folder like all the other destination galleries.uf!!

    Have you used any of the customization tools of New Smugmug? Have you dragged any content blocks onto a folder or gallery? I ask because that will tell me how much help you might need.

    I'll take a guess at what would be helpful.
    Go to the Gallery you want to customize.
    Click Customize Site.
    Click "Just This Gallery" on the right side.
    Look for the Navigation block "Galleries" (see image).

    db1-X2.jpg

    Click and Drag using the left Mouse, the Galleries Block, over to the left side main area.
    Move the mouse around and look for a pale green horizontal bar to appear, which shows you where you can drop the block. Drop the block.

    db2-X2.jpg

    This shows you the Galleries block, currently it has no content.

    db3-X2.jpg'

    Hover the mouse over the block, and on the upper left corner of the darker green, click the Wrench, which is settings.

    db4-X2.jpg

    Settings shown below.

    db5-X2.jpg

    Click the Select From, the option Galleries you will choose.

    db6-X2.jpg

    Choose the galleries. You may need to go back to the House/Home icon (yellow highlighted upper left corner), and navigate through the folders to the galleries.
    I think you should try choosing just one gallery at first. Click it and "done".

    db7-X2.jpg

    Now go back to the right side flyout, content blocks, and drag a text block:

    db8-X2.jpg

    In this image I have the text block hovering over the green bar that is just under the gallery block I dropped in:

    db9-X2.jpg

    I add text:

    db10-X2.jpg

    Click done, and you see my text under the gallery block.

    db11-X2.jpg

    You can add multiple blocks below, above, or on the sides, of other blocks.
    The triangle next to the wrench gives you margins and container width choices.
    Look for the other settings to tweak as you wish.

    I see you haven't added a text block yet, but your gallery is there!
    The reason the Gallery is empty message is there is because you do not have photographs in this gallery.
    You DO have Gallery BLOCKS.
    YES: Gallery thumbnail images that are clickable and take you to the gallery.
    But NO photos by themselves.

    You could also have set this up as a Folder and not a Gallery, and put the Gallery blocks in the Folder.

    I'm not sure why I, as a visitor, see that message. I thought that was something one saw only if logged in as the owner. I also think there is code that will delete that message, but I don't know its whereabouts. I'm sure someone will give you that answer.

    I'm not familiar with the new SM galleries, I created my galleries "by hand". If all you need to do is remove that icon, you can try this...
    .sm-user-ui .sm-gallery-empty {
         display: none;
         }
