The girlfriend works at a stable in the L.A. area and I like to head over there with the camera from time to time. A few recent shots:











The last two were taken with the Hipstamatic app on an iPhone. In good light -- as seen in the final photo -- the iPhone camera really performs.

Yeah, I like these too Steve - I live in horse ranch territory.
I think you nicely captured some of the "character" of the place...
Nit, I would prefer the eye sharp in #2...
And, I too am somewhat amazed at what cell phone cameras are capable of these days.

Horses are always fun to shoot. I drive up to California's Eastern Sierra all the time and there's great horse pastures all along the way, particularly in the Round Valley area north of Bishop. Even in So Cal, there's some pretty rural areas and neighborhoods where there are a lot of people with horses.

Yeah, I love my Nikon but in good light the iPhone5 is really fun pocket camera. I use Hipstamatic and the VSCO app (they also make good presets for Lightroom) and it's pretty easy to get images that are print-worthy, albeit at small sizes.
