First decent hawk pics....

After an unproductive hour at the local frozen watering hole, having had two hawks fly high over my head from behind resulting in worthless long-distance butt shots, I packed it in and headed home. On the way, a hawk flew about 20 feet in front of me and landed in a tree about 50 yards away.

With my trusty cam on the front seat and without even thinking about settings, I pulled over, grabbed the cam and starting walking back towards the tree where the hawk landed. As soon as I had a clear shot, he spotted me and within seconds took off, flying *towards* me. These shots are the best I could do and most were underexposed, thus the noise. Still, best to date so far...

Hope you enjoy...regards...Keith T.

Nice ones Keith. Those Raptors can be such a pain to get good shots of. You did very well.

    Thanks, all...
... it was indeed a thrill to finally have one close enough to get some decent shots. Now I just have to get better at finding and stalking - all within the hour or so that I allot at a time to such efforts. One of these days I'll go for a hike in the Hudson highlands and try to find a bald eagle. Oh well, some of us still have a JOB - and can't spend all day waiting for one of these evil creatures to show up right next to the tripod...right Harry??!!!!

Excellent shots Keith. Its always a thrill to capture these guys.

I do have to remind you that this is a G/PG rated site. Use of words like the "J" word and the "W" word are really not appropriate. :nono
