How to............

First I have a new quandary. I want to create a top tier (category, gallery, what ever it's called). Then have three image galleries under this top tier. The top tier would be password protected, but once the pass word was entered at the top tier all three image galleries would be open to move about in without having to enter the pass word every time you try to back and forth between the three under galleries.

Can this be done?

Sam

Go to your Organizer, and create a Folder. Then, in the Folder Settings, add a password. Then you can drag/drop the Galleries into the Folder (so they appear there). When someone enters the password for the Folder, it will 'unlock' those Galleries.

BTW, to create a top level anything make sure your name is highlighted in the top upper left.

OK here is what I did. I just created a category, put three galleries inside, password protected all three galleries.

Once you open any one on these galleries all will open without having to reenter the password.

    Hi Sam,
Yes, on the New SmugMug, do not password protect the individual galleries, but instead the folder they're in. That way, a visitor would only have to enter the password once to be able to view all galleries in it.

Unfortunately I am on the Legacy SmugMug. :cry

I have too many other brain twisting exasperating headache producing issues to even try and re-tackle creating a new website on the new SmugMug. :cry:cry:cry

Although I will say it appears SmugMug has done something with the image display that really looks good.

    Sam,
On Legacy SmugMug it should be as it was in the past. As long as the password for the galleries is the same, entering the password on one gallery, should allow a visitor access to the other gallery as well without having to re-enter the password.
In fact, I just verified that on a site of mine that's also in Preview mode for the New SmugMug, but not yet unveiled.

Perhaps one of your galleries is set to hide owner yes? That would likely prevent the feature from working until you turned it off.

If you're still having an issue with that and don't want to post the gallery links and password here, head over to our HelpDesk and include all the details so we could take a closer look.

If I password-protect a folder as described, what happens when a visitor shares a UK for a gallery in that folder? Will that allow direct access without a password?

Everything in the folder will inherit from the folder. PW will be required to open a gallery with a direct link.
