Galleries, Folders, Pages...Help!

What is the difference between Galleries, Folders, and Pages?

I am trying to organize my galleries by year and then have folders within each gallery.

Example:

2005 > Wedding
2005 > Honeymoon
2006 > College Graduation
2007 > Baby Shower
2007 > Baby Birth

Is this possible? I cannot figure out how to do this. I've watched the tutorial videos and they don't even look similar to what I see now.

I've been on Smug Mug since 2007. It used to be very intuitive but now it really frustrates me. I know I'm probably making it much harder than it needs to be (probably some simple solution I'm not seeing). I am able to create folder and galleries...but not folders within a gallery.

Any help is appreciated.

Folders are containers that can hold other folders, pages, and galleries.
Galleries contain photos. They do not contain folders.
Pages are other content - they may contain photos, text, whatever you need.

On my site, the menu entries for kaleidoscope, gallery, and about are pages.
The gallery page contains folders. The folders contain galleries.

In your example, 2005 might be a folder that contains the galleries "wedding" and "honeymoon".

If you're used to legacy SmugMug, then you'll have organized galleries into categories there. The top level folders on NEW SmugMug are like Categories on legacy. The improvement is that you can now nest up to five more folders within your top level.
Galleries, like on legacy, are the end point of the tree and only contain images.
