How do I hide the folders and galleries inside Folders?

Right now I have my main folders, and they show the standard SM style for folder and gallery display.
Because one cannot have gallery descriptions be part of this display format, I would like to:
- Build my own content with Folder, title, and text blocks
- and Hide the default SM presentation
This will allow me to not lose the Path of my original folder structure.
I would do this on a folder by folder basis. I don't have a lot of them so I'm hoping a CSS block on a folder will do the trick.
Thanks.
PS: If I have missed another better solution, please feel free to share. :thumb

You shouldn't lose any links when you unveil though.

Mike you are actually the inspiration for this decision.
But I don't think I'm doing what you did.
My legacy has main folders inside folders. I don't want to lose that URL structure.
So I'll create the custom blocks inside the folder.
That will result in duplicate content, my custom content, and the default folders thumbnails.
I don't want to use pages because those don't show up in the breadcrumb, but mainly because I want my current folder structure to remain intact.
So I need to hide the default folder and gallery thumbnails, right?
Or am I missing something?
