Subdomain - EXACTLY how to accomplish?

My "main" site is a WordPress site (that's where my domain points to).
I want to create a subdomain for my SM site.
I'm hosted by BlueHost and when I was just poking around in my control panel there, I saw that I had created a few subdomains a long time ago, but never used them.
One of them is "galleries.winterwoodphotography.com"...and that's the one I've decided to use for SM.
Here is my question: What, exactly, do I need to do to make that happen?
Next to the subdomain name listed on my BH control panel is a button labeled "redirect" - it's currently not redirected and I don't think it needs to be, right?
Is it as simple as updating the "custom domain" name in my SM settings? Don't I need to do something with A records and all that?
Sorry, I know enough to be dangerous but not nearly enough to get the job done. Thanks.

As it notes on that page you will not set up an A record, just CNAME and set up your domain in your smug site.

So it really is as simple as that? Ok, I'll make the change in a little while and see how it goes. Thanks!
