how do i change the background color on one or more of my pages. Right now its the default black, I would like a different color for certain pages

background color and save it with a different name. Then apply it where you want it.
or you could add CSS to set the background for specific pages. Each page has a specific
class name found in the body tag. Look in the page source towards the top.

Allen, are you really able to set a theme for just one page or gallery? I thought a theme had to apply to full sections only (entire site, home page, all folders, all galleries). Is this new behavior?
You can't change the theme for one content block in a page. I didn't even know one could change a theme for just one (entire) page or gallery.
As for a jpeg with color, you could make one with any program like Photoshop. Or, google for free seamless background images. There are a million freely available (check for open source limits of course). You could get both a color you like as well as a very subtle texture.
