Hi all,
I have just set up my lightroom to use the smugmug plugin. I have tried configured it and I pressed the sync button... well after 12 hours is still syncing.. If I am guessing this correctly the lightroom would try to acquire snapshots of what I am having. I hope it does not just downloads all the files at my pc..
How Lightroom and smugmug syncing works?
I would like to thank you in advance for your reply
Regards
Alex

Syncing the publish service will link images on SmugMug with a master image in your catalog - it does not download any images from SmugMug. That can take a while based on the number of images on SmugMug, your network connection and the size of your catalog.
Caveats:
1. The images have to exist in your catalog to be linked. If you use multiple catalogs, each has to be synced (and the counts of published images will only reflect the numbers from the current catalog).
2. The sync process matches based on image metadata - if metadata has been stripped from the published images then that becomes difficult.
You can safely interrupt the sync process - it should just continue when you restart it. If it is simply a matter of a huge number of images to process then you can break it down to bite-sized chunks by using the sync options for galleries or folders (these can be accessed from the edit folder or edit gallery options).

syncing after 24 hours still runs and I will leave it for at least 24 more hours. Few more smug mug questions.
Would it be possible to add all my new photos to smug mug just by using lightroom?
if yes can it support also raw files uploading if I add the extra option for smugmug for saving raw (yes there is an extra space cost).

Alex
In answer to your other questions, you can perform all of your content management directly from Lightroom. You can add raw and other file formats if you add a SmugVault to your account.
I'd suggest you raise a support ticket (using the email address registered with your account) if you need us to investigate further.

I then downloaded the pluging again from here
http://help.smugmug.com/customer/portal/articles/121321-lightroom-plugin-update
but the SmugMug.lrplugin is not located in the zip file.. I had then to go to bed as I wake up 4:50 in the morning
Alex
There is no file by the name SmugMug.lrplugin - it's a folder in the zip that has the name SmugMug.lrplugin and it contains all of the plugin. When extracting the zip, make sure to extract the whole zip and not just the individual files within it.

The sync process doesn't download anything to your catalog. It can take a long time to work through a large volume of images on SmugMug and large catalogs. Your broadband speed could also have bearing on the time taken.
Since you haven't disclosed your account name we're just guessing. I'd recommend that you raise a support ticket.

The more information you provide the easier it is to help you.
You have 14000 images online ... but I still don't have any idea if these are all from a single catalog (or how big it might be). I don't know your broadband speed either.
I've got 5900 images online, primarily from a single catalog of 30000 images (4.8GB catalog file, 1.4TB of images). I'm pretty sure my last full sync took longer than a day and I'm running with a 10Mbit/s download link.
Have you tried running sync hierarchy on its own? Then, as previously suggested, using the selective sync from the edit folder/ edit gallery options?
