Search Results - Square Thumbnails

Is there a way to NOT have square thumnails in the search results? Maybe something like the Collage Landscape?

Unfortunately there is not. This apparently was done by design.

See thread result of search shows thumbnail style in tight grid, doesn't honor design default.

FWIW, there's a thread about customising the search results page at http://dgrin.com/showthread.php?t=243878

It doesn't deal with changing the style from square thumbnails but it does deal with making the layout a tad more sensible.
