OK, so as part of my recent Pinterest love (see also https://plus.google.com/104859346014137939134/posts/WdaRN1iVeGi ) I note that you can add a verified website to your profile. (custom domains only)

Two options are offered:

1 - upload a html file
(I tried cut and pasting it into a html block but I think the filename matters - here's what I got http://www.paulbrockphotography.co.uk/Pinterest-85c7c )

2 - add a meta tag to the head section of your HTML.
(Tried to add the meta to a html block, smugmug stripped it out)

As ever, this looks like it was previously possible on Legacy smugmug - how can we do it on new Smugmug please?

    Hi Paul,

Neither of these options will work with the New SmugMug right now, but we hope to have something in place to help with Pinterest verification. We'll see what we can do!

Thanks for the heads up on this subject. As a wedding shooter I see more & more brides creating huge galleries of pinned images from all over the place. I have to admit I really don't know a whole lot about Pinterest. This thread, and your posts about it, has sparked a starting place for me to look into it.

It's not possible to verify your SmugMug site with pinterest at this point. I wish I had a different answer for you.

OK...Pinterest was the hottest thing going this last couple of years...especially for photography and Photographers. It's been Over a year and Instagram has moved in. Over a year and you still don't have a way for us to verify a one line tag in the header???? Please come on and help us out! No grins here. :(

There's still not a way to add custom meta tags to SmugMug at this time, sorry! I've passed this request along again to our team, so we'll take another look and see if something like this would be possible to support.

OK, this seems like an important feature in "legacy SmugMug" that we lost by upgrading. And one need only look through forum posts to realize this issue has been ongoing for quite some time. So we're to believe we pay for a service which DOWNGRADED our rights and control, and that has subsequently STRUGGLED to grant us those rights and controls on a new platform.

I don't buy it. I've worked in technology--including the web--since long before the internet became available to the general masses. As in back when it was still DARPANET. Thus I know this isn't a difficult problem to solve.

So, how do we block pinterest? It's a simple question with a simple solution, only SmugMug can't seem to make it happen--although they had it working before we all continued to pay for an upgrade which now--clearly--is a downgrade.

I'm sure like so many others, I don't want to hear another "I'll pass it along" response to this issue. The question is how do we block pinterest, and the answer is we used to be able to do it. So where does SmugMug go from here?

Oh, and I should point out that I run a WP site that gives me access to the WP CDN. If I move all my images there--at no cost--I suddenly get this control. Sure, I'll lose plenty of features, but at least I gain rights to my images that I once had with SmugMug. Trust me when I say that option is looking more and more attractive.

What does it mean to verify the site?
I have followed the instructions to verify my smugmug site to pinterest. I has confirmed that my site is verified. I still can't get a pinterest button to work on my site. Please explain what verify means and why people can't pin my images.

    Thanks,
    Pamela
