Don't usually open "untitled", but here I'm glad I did
Interesting comp, I like it...
I like this shot, I would crop the man on the far right though.
Rags, why don't you open untitled shots? Sometimes it is hard to name a shot and I don't think it has anything to do with the quality or interest of the photograph.
Richard: I always open your posts as they are usually great shots. I really like this one. It's got it all: A story being told (literally and figuratively), excellent composition and your usual technique. I'm a bit on the fence about the face on the right. As soon as I think it should be cropped out I change my mind. I'm going with "leave it". It adds another chapter to the story.

Hard to title? I agree. It's just that I have less time for photography forums (& photography) - nothing to do with quality.
Also I was losing interest... Wanting to retain the interest I've planned a dynamite photography trip (3/2014) to clean out my bucket list...
As a photographer - what do you think?
Here the itinerary is controlled by the weather - and that will be determined on site. Here is what I have roughed out and all the travelling logistics tied up
1. Pick up motorcycle in Florida and shoot Supercross in Daytona
2. then shoot a Louisiana swamp am - wake up those crocks
3. New Orleans for some street
4. New Mexico: White Sands Nat'l Monument (shoot some white dunes)
5. Gila Cliff Dwellings
6. Salinas Pueblo Mission
7. Chaco Cultural National Historic Park
8. Canyon de Chilly
9. Wupatki Nat'l Mon
10. Walnut Canyon Nat'l Mon.
11. Pinnacles Nat'l Park (Shoot some Condors there)
Then home to SF Bay
But before that, pro tennis in Palm Desert as part of the negotiation with my bride

Wow, that sounds like a whale of a trip! Some bucket list you have, you'll need three months to recover. The White Sands Monument is my my, way smaller, bucket list too. Have fun! when are you starting this? You need to keep us posted!
Well done Richard!
I really like the smoke/vapor cloud as an additional element.
Crop bearded man or not? That's a tough one...
I like it either way for different reasons - I'm gonna say... nope, can't decide - so, wonderful ambiguity too!
Thanks for your nice comments, guys. Much appreciated.
This shot has evolved some--the first version was a panorama aspect that also showed a couple of (partial) faces at the left edge. But that left the people in the center a little small and the overall effect was too much like watching a ping-pong game. I thought about just using the center, but the guy on the right was sort of like the prize in the crackerjacks, so I left him in. It could work without him, but I think he adds a little mystery to scene and it makes for a more interesting composition.
As for titles, I provide them when they occur to me but I don't attach too much importance to them. It used to drive me a little crazy a few years ago when we used to get into arguments over titles rather than discussing the images themselves.
Sounds like a great plan, Rags--looking forward to seeing the pics.

And arguing over titles brings back the "good ole days" of this forum...
Yes it does, even if the title is "untitled"...

Hey, Rainbow. Good to see you here. Do any shooting lately?
I guess we're hopeless.
Thanks. I agree about the guy on the right.
