Went to photograph the waves, found a short trail to a waterfall, spotted a branch with moss on it, bent down to photograph moss, and this little guy popped up and sat on rock where I was lying, for me to get these shots! All help is appreciated! Anyone what this is? It can swim and has long tentacles and spikes on tail.

Thanks Guru! Had the flash with me, but no diffuser. The fall is sort of in a canopy so there is almost no chance to get anything macro in natural light. I was increasing shutter speed by being 3 f-stops below suggested exposure by the camera and it still worked courtesy of flash. Cheers!
Try not to cut off a leg/foot in a full bug shot

Yes, that was rather silly to call it full shot when it obviously isn't.
