Hey everyone,

Again, been awhile since I posted here. Last Saturday I had a session with Michelle based out of The Woodlands, TX. She is represented by the Dragonfly Agency out of Dallas though. Hoping to work with more of their models in the future! Any comment/critiques are more than welcome!

    Personal opinion...

Her nose looks too big in 2 and 4.

    Was this wide angle?

It was shot with the Sigma 35mm f/1.4, so yes there is slight distortion. I did away with most of it in Lightroom, but alas, it is not all gone.

Looks like these were shot on a wide angle lens. You using a 35mm? I feel a little distortion in these.

Images 1-3 are nice, but the face looks a little too red for me. What leads me to believe this was shot on a wide-angle, is the distortion in 2. Her head and arms look a bit disproportionate to her body. I do enjoy the pose, but for the distance from the subject, you gotta be careful with how you'd want to work the distortion. I shoot with a 35, and I try to use it artistically to my advantage. It can be a pain sometimes though!

Also something else to note with the first 3, did you use a slower shutter? I notice a slight motion blur when she moved into these poses.

The light in 4 is solid, although I wish you got her expression before mid-blink.

#5 is the winner for me. Nice pose and attitude. The colors here really pop nicely here!

I like what you have, but just a few observations. Keep it up!

EDIT: Just saw you answered the lens question a second ago! ^

Definitely thinking about selling the sigma 35mm when the new 50mm f/1.4 comes out, since I am shooting on a crop body. Might have to pay a little more, but definitely understanding the distortion problem.

The first 3 were shots at 1/160 of a second shutter speed. Do not see the motion blur you are referring to.

I believe in #4 she was just looking down a bit to much. My reflector was down by my feet reflecting gold into her face.

Thanks for all f the critiques!

Anyone else excited for the new Sigma 50mm f/1.4 Art Series?!

Why not buy the Canon and be able to rest assured that it will work on any new body's you buy in the future?

Why would the Sigma not be able to work? Because of mount alterations? Sigma now offers mount changing for a fee. So that's a plus, if I were to switch from say canon to nikon at a later date....I wouldn't have to sell/rebuy abunch of lenses.

So I am sure if say canon changes the mount at a later date...sigma will offer a mount change. And the quality of these new lenses of theirs is outstanding.

I really can't speak to Canon product as I am, and always will be a Nikon guy, but it is my understanding that although Canon and Nikon go to great lengths to ensure their new bodies will work with old existing lenses, the same cannot be said of third party lenses. Nikon is REALLY making it hard for third party in the future and I am guessing that Canon won't be far behind. The compatibility issues go beyond just mounts.

Third party people don't get specs from N and C. They have to wait until the new bodies come out and then engineer their lenses based on the r and d they do on the new bodies.

    Example...

I'm using Nikon glass made in the 1980's on my D-700. On one of them, the results are better than the new glass Nikon is making. I have a spectacular 105mm Sigma, it works great on the D-700, but it will not work with a few other newer models of Nikon.

Didn't mean to derail your thread dealing with your nice images. This discussion would most likely be better to have in a different forum.
