Link color throughout website

I seem to have really made the css or html for the link color convoluted at some point.

I just want all links to appear as one color, let's call it "dark gray" with a light yellow highlight on them throughout my site.

I'm not sure what you are after here. You can set the text color in your theme.

Are you looking for a different color on hover? If yes, try this (after changing the color to your preferred color):

/* Adds hover effect to all links on site */
a :hover, 
a:hover {
  color: #19a791 !important;
}
