A few shots taken around L.A. County in recent weeks:

Devil's Punchbowl Natural Area. The Devil's Chair -- you can walk on it -- is the top white rock at lower right. If you look at large version you can see the fencing. Good hiking.

Remnants of the Station Fire, Angeles National Forest.

Peaks of the San Gabriel Mountain front range. Big version.

Eaton Canyon, Altadena.

Los Angeles River, old streetcar bridge abutments.

PalosVerdesDec2013-8118-L.jpg

Rim Trail, Portuguese Bend preserve on Palos Verdes Peninsula.

Catalina Island from Portuguese Bend on Palos Verdes.

Burned tree, Mt. Waterman ridge.

That's it. Thanks for looking and C&C always welcome.

Hi Steve, "Eaton Canyon" is the winner for me! Colors, composition etc! thumb.gif

For "Rim Trail", if I am seeing it correctly, the Sun is right at the top, kind of hiding behind the rock.......If you play hide and seek with it and stop down, you could have placed HALF-SUN-STAR at top-right edge of the rock (not centered). It would have sealed the deal!

    Cheers!

    Hey Stumblebum --

That's a fine idea with the sun star. I was having some issues with flaring so I did the opposite and tried to hide sun behind rock. I didn't realize that stopping down helped create a star although makes sense (kind of like squinting, right?). Very good to know for similar mid-day issues in the future.

thanks for checking out the pics!

All nice, but 2, 4 and the last one are the bomb. nod.gif
