:huh :cry :huh :cry :cry I have been trying to post a few images in various catagories and the first few worked fine (I do the copy and paste method) and now all I have been getting is a bunch of coding.....like : <IMG class=imgBorderOn onmouseover="this.className='imgBorderOn'" title="CONTEMPORARY-VISIONS > JEWELS of the NIGHT" onmouseout="this.className='imgBorder'" height=450 alt="CONTEMPORARY-VISIONS > JEWELS of the NIGHT" hspace=0 src="http://contemporary-visions.smugmug.com/photos/48890658-M.jpg" width=600 border=0>
JEWELS of the NIGHT:scratch :scratch :scratch :scratch

And then a replier to my post said all I needed was this code link:
http://contemporary-visions.smugmug....48890658-M.jpg

LINK REVISED: http://contemporary-visions.smugmug.com/photos/48890658-M.jpg

And yes it links to the photo however now my problem is where do I find these links... as these are not the same as I see in my address bar.:scratch

I am using PC....Win XP pro......IE 6 or 7....I upgraded that just a couple of months ago......
This is really driving me crazy as I get a hit and miss on images for posting, so far everyone has been nice about my prob, but I know if it continues they won't and I would not expect them too.:cry :cry :cry :huh :huh

Thanks

    You mean this link?
    http://contemporary-visions.smugmug.com/photos/48890658-M.jpg
(which was shortened to the invalid link http://contemporary-visions.smugmug....48890658-M.jpg ?: hover your mouse over both the first and the second link and you'll see the differences in the status-bar on the bottom of your browser)

This forums shortens links in 2 ways:
    1. If the link is in the main message, its text inside the message may get shortened, e.g. http://contemporary-visions.smugmug....48890658-M.jpg, but the actual link (when you click on it) is still the full one.
    2. If the link is a
section, not only the text of the link will get shortened, but the actual link as well. This makes the link invalid.

In short, don't copy&paste links from the QUOTE section. They may not be valid (check for a row of consecutive periods (e.g. "....") in the link-text).
I can't grasp the notion of time.

When I hear the earth will melt into the sun,
    in two billion years,
    all I can think is:
"Will that be on a Monday?"

    thanks forthe help flyingdutchie!

Okay I fixed the copied thread link in my post now states it is a revised link and it works....................BUT....this is not the copy and paste I was refering too.

When I have a photo or more to putin a thread I ahd been going to where the photos are stored (ie: smugmug or flikr) and right cliking on the photos and pasteing them into the thread.....worked fine until I tried to post my 4 trees into one theread and only go 2 of 'em to shoiw up and that gawd awful mess of code was in the place of the other 2.

Then I tried to make a completely new post of the missing 2 photos and it never worked.
    now stressed,,,,,,,,,,outheadscratch.gifheadscratch.gifheadscratch.gif

    Art,

How is it that a Reiki Master gets so stressed out? Relax! It's all good.

I can see just by looking at your post (not even reading it) that you're stressed...all those big, long, gobbledeegook links. It's hard on the eyes.

Andy nailed it. You just have to read the tutorial on how to post. It's really easy to do, as long as you don't do it the way you're doing it now. The link is in Andy's signature, along with some other great resources. Give it a gander. And relax!
