It's not very often I shoot any wildlife so I thought I should share this one.

You should shoot birds more often Phil :D

This is a nicely done pic thumb.gif The bird is well exposed and I like the diagonal line of water spiltting the frame. Good composition clap.gif

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

And that is a wild one, too, Phil! I know. They run this way and that way. I sit and shoot seagulls, but I love these little ones. They are always on the go with me, though. I find them difficult to "capture".

    Good Catch,

Nice capture Phil. The only way I could see to improve it would be to have that "catch light" in the birds eye.

Wow - thanks everyone for the comments.

Here's the story behind this shot: This was in Puerto Rico last month. My wife and I were enjoying a nice warm evening on the beach at the end of the airport runway (watching the planes takeoff). At some point a little cluster of these guys came up the beach so between planes I started chasing them around. All of them but this guy left. He of course wouldn't let me get too close but did end up with a couple nice poses - one of which you see above. The downside is that I did not have the flash-gun mounted so no catchlight as Steve mentioned.

Not exactly wildlife but here's a couple of the metal birds I was shooting that evening (hope you don't mind):
