Santa Barbara Channel

Shot this last month in Goleta from Ellwood Mesa -- great park btw.

That's Santa Cruz Island out there and I fired off a bunch of shots hoping to get one of the dolphins surfacing amid a very big patch of habitat, the Santa Barbara Channel.

I kind of like black and white better. On shots like this I always seem to have hard time accurately capturing the color of the sky with the telephoto (Nikon 70-300 on d5100).

C&C welcome as always and thanks for looking!

    Hi Steve, this one is one of my favorites from your site and had stuck with me since and have dreamed of taking a shot like this...along with the Moon Owl one! Totally love it the colored version!!

    I do have a personal preference and that may not be same as everyone.....there are 5 birds I think in the frame (2 straight above the Phin and two towards top left corner one towards right corner)....but they are so small that they look like dust on the mirror......I would just zap them with spot removal! Cheers!

    Hey Stumblebum;

    Thanks for checking it out. Zappage of the birds may happen soon -- I ordered a print and want to see what they look like on paper. If they appear to be more dust than birds, they will soon meet their maker! :)
