Unprofessional, professional headshots

So sitting here in a stuffy conference room waiting for my next victim. I've had two Directors no show for the business headshot. I knew this would happen so negotiated that I get paid for my time whether they show or not. What douche bags though. They can't call the conference room to let me know?

I once had a client show up 40 minutes late to an hour-long headshot session, didn't want to pay to extend the studio time, insisted on changing outfits a few times, and then was pretty vocal in his dislike of the resulting photos because he looked rushed and uncomfortable in every frame. He's still using one for his LinkedIn profile, so oh well!

I also did a corporate headshot shoot at an office once that consisted of me sitting around for 4 hours before shooting literally for 10 minutes.

    Good times.

Welcome to the world of professional photography. Congrats on forward thinking about getting paid..........obviously it wasn't enough or else they would have made time. Add your travel time, set up time, shooting time, tear down time, divide that into your fee after subtracting cost......are you happy?

Actually Hack, I took all that into account and I charged going rate for business headshots. You have understand, this is a large business, over a billion in yearly revenue and about 3000 employees. My fee is inconsequential to these VP types. I did get most of them shot though. Of the ten scheduled, only the two flaked so not too bad in the end.

THe more I do this and the more I hear from others about their experiences, the happier I am that my fee is up-front, and that I charge a deposit to hold the date. And boo on those execs - sure, maybe something came up, but CALL AND CANCEL. It amazes me how many people just don't bother. Grr.
