EDIT: These are not typical landscape shots and were never intended to be so. These were composed, shot, and processed to be of the 'art' variation. To create mood, feeling, inspire thought. If you don't 'get it' or even like them that is totally cool. That is the beauty of art.

I like the idea behind both, but for me something is slightly off. For first one I don't know what to look at as bird is bokeh and due to mist or whatever, house appears to be too. Second one is great exposure, but maybe too smoothed out so instead of crushing waves looking gnarly, they appear bit cute. Having said, the thought behind both is great and something I would surely build off of! Cheers!

Aaron... how wet did you get for #2? Not sure I like #1 so much but it is slightly interesting.... I do like the concept of #2, I keep trying to look around the incoming wave to see out.......

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts. Both images are as intended. The house is technically the focus point for the camera but it is slightly hidden by the mist/fog/marine layer. The image is about mood rather than technical aspects.
R.E- the 2nd image- I was not going for a big gnarly wave- more about smoothness, motion, and light.

Thank you for your comments though.

Lee - thanks for your comments. I didn't get wet on #2 at all as it was shot with a telephoto lens (100-400).

No worries if you are not sure about #1. What do you find interesting about it though? Please share.

I realized that "art" was the intention and not worried about technical aspects at all, thus pointing out I liked at least the thought behind them. I wanted to be drawn in the first one and find something that effects the mood....makes you wonder...etc. For second one, the color and capture is beautiful and sort of an abstract theme....what else.... Art to me should evoke feelings...and affect mood....didn't want gnarly wave because waves are supposed to be gnarly....but evokes fear....reminds of quick end and forces more power than us.....seeing them as cute was bit too unusual for me....JMO. Cheers!

I like the second one very much, and the smoothness fits it. Fine work.

Hmmm... always trying to get a picture 'right' sometimes, it's hard to sit back and enjoy 'art'. Laughing.gif. I do like them! The first one brings to mind 'Dark Shadows', I'm hearing the music and waiting for Barnabas Collins to walk along the cliff. My eye does go to the bird first. Love the colors in the second one...it can't decide if it wants to be dramatic or soft and it makes me sea sick!:D

Yes- it is one of the downfalls of photography these days. People expect that you must be able to view a 40x60 print from 6 inches away. People are far too concerned with the technical details to really look for any message, emotion, or thought. I could go on a rant but I will refrain.

Glad the images inspired a feeling. That was the intent. :D
