Just a few of the headshots I did on Thursday. Kind of vanilla but that's what they wanted.

LOVE everything except the hairlight "oops" on #3. I'd clone it out, frankly.

Dang, I wish I had your skill with studio light - you do the "traditional" setup, but make it look and feel fresh and current rather than "Sears" thumb.gif

Thanks Diva. Not too boring then? Was worried they were looking to Sears-ie.

I'm glad you mention the hot spot on 3. It was bothering me but I was too lazy to clone it out. rolleyes1.gif I had planned to before I turn over the final product but now its a for sure kind of thing.

I know I've said this before but I will again... I find my Sekonic light meter indispensable and I owe the consistency I get in my lighting to it. thumb.gif

It's not just the settings - it's your modifiers, and placement, and general skill at reading what you're getting while you're doing it. The lightmeter is only the math :)

I like them all but like the last one especially with the higher angle and dynamic lean.

I know, I probably have no leg to stand on here, given that I don't shoot that kind of portraits but..

    1)
i find the bright side to be too hot. the lad's deep set eye makes it look like it is about to pop out of the orbit due to the shadow
2/3) same thing, I think i'd bring it down just a wee bit.
    4) love it. the whole thing except the tie.
it seems to be a bit too hot.
Arseny - the too honest guy.

Thanks Diva. I guess you're right but the light meter does make it a bit easier. thumb.gif

I agree Hack. He was the shortest guy I photographed. Unfortunately, the seat I used and the stool I had, I couldn't get any higher of an angle so whatcha gonna do. ne_nau.gif

Hmm... I guess its subjective because I don't find them too hot. Although, I do agree that the tie in the last shot may be on the cusp. thumb.gif

They should love these. To my eye the first few look off balance. if you clip one side clip the other, or show the full shoulders on each side......just a minor nit.....opinions will vary on it.
