client gallery - how does client choose their photos

I've set up an Unlisted + Password-Protected gallery for a client. I'll be uploading her photos from a recent photo shoot to her gallery and will then give her the password to log in and review her photos. The question that didn't occur to me until now: how does she indicate which photos she wants? I tried with a test gallery and "Liked" a couple photos, but I don't see anywhere in my admin area, photo gallery or email where I receive a copy of those "Likes."

Is there a way to accomplish this?

I'd like to avoid having her keep track of file names until she can email them to me. I was hoping she could just go through the gallery (in thumb or slideshow view) and Star or Like the ones she wants.

(And she's not going to be buying the photos since I've included everything in the price I charged her for the session, so I don't want anything going into a cart, exactly).

If this doesn't make sense, let me know and I'll try to clarify. Here's the link to my test gallery:

Thanks in advance!

Hi! :D Sorry - was having errors when trying to post a new thread, so I did a test post. Just updated to include my questions.

    Enjoy your day!

Did you want us to be able to enter that gallery? If so, what's the password?

The only place that likes are exposed is on the /popular page - and you don't see a number of likes or who liked a photo. As far as I know there are other factors besides clicking like that feed into that page.

The only way that smug allows you to see her favorites would be to use an Event - http://help.smugmug.com/customer/portal/articles/83125-can-my-customers-mark-their-favorites-market-events-.

Based on the features shown on the page http://www.smugmug.com/features it appears that Events are available only at the Business account level.

Thanks for allowing access. If you hover the mouse over the bottom of a thumbnail, there's a little cart icon. Hovering over that brings up "buy", and the options are This Photo or Photos from this gallery.

I don't sell photos so I haven't looked into the various ways to access "buy" but it strikes me as strange that the cart option doesn't appear unless and until one hovers over the image. I think you can change that setting to permanently turn on the highlight area. And/or show the photo title. I''m not sure of the method to achieve that, however.

I believe the OP is fulfilling orders herself. That cart icon pushes the sale through smug.

If you have a business level account you could give your customer a coupon to cover the cost if you wanted the printing to be done by smug.

That's correct, Denise. I'm fulfilling the orders myself (and the cost of the downloads/prints were already figured in to the session cost, so I don't want to send her through the cart system). I may upgrade to a Business account at some point, but right now it's still a bit out of my budget. I like the numbered thumbnails that Lamah did, so I may end up doing that. Thanks for sending that.
