I think what our Dutch friend is saying is that it's a bit "too much HDR", and I think I agree.

Agree with everyone above. My first instinct was that whatever I can see of the leftover pre-HDR image, it might have been soft and even, directional late afternoon light! The trees fill it out nicely. Clouds also happen to be in right spot and glowing. So even if the image was cooked, HDR might not have been the ideal ingredient to do the cooking with.
