Custom-sized thumbnails in thumbnail-style galleries

Is there a way to customize the thumbnails in a thumbnail-style gallery?

I'd like to be able to have (1) a larger size and (2) put a border around each image?

Don't think you can change the thumbnail size. To add a border I use this on my site...

.sm-gallery-thumbnail .sm-tile {
    border: 1px solid #000;   
    }

Somebody had written a code for the Legacy version and I was hoping someone had done the same thing for the New.

Thanks for the suggestions ChancyRat, those links were my starting point but don't have the code for what I'm attempting to do.

This is now possible (as of early this morning). See new product announcement, New! Additional Design Options In Gallery Styles. For thumbnail and collage-style galleries we can now specify a size.
