Very nice! Did you use a grad on the sky?

No grad. I used a 10-stop ND filter though. First time out with it. clap.gif

I have variable 8-stop ND filter and in low light there is barely anything visible in view finder and at max (8-stop) it cuts enough light that auto-focus can have issues.

I deal with it by going to min, getting focus, and switching to Manual-mode, then going to max and then taking shot.

Since fixed 10-stop doesn't give that option, did you encounter any such issues and how did you deal with it? Thanks.

Absolutely did. With it on, it was literally like shooting in the dark. Laughing.gif

What I did is composed the shot and set my focus with the filter off. Then I put the filter on, very carefully so not to accidentally move focus. Then I set my exposure and fired the shot.

Maybe not the way a pro would do it but it worked for this noob. rolleyes1.gif

Glad to know I am not the only who ran into that issue. I need 10-stop! Cheers!

I use the Lee Big Stopper with their filter holder set up. I works great, just compose your shot, lock the focus, slide in your filter, dial in your exposure and your set. The bad part is the filter is nearly 200 bucks and takes about a month to get due to it usually being on backorder.

    Keep sharing!

    Peace,

Love the tonal qualities, and the sharp detail in your image. Very cool.

    Peace,

Thanks Mike! I have to buy the holder+adapter too so it is pretty steep. I need the system because the screw-on Grad-filter is the worst investment. The drop in system takes out the horizon-at-mid-point requirement. Cheers!
