Contact link

Hi

Since I unveiled, the link to my contact form no longer works. It works in the Smugmug designated navigation but not in my own custom footer. Does anyone have a url I can just paste in there to make it work please? The site is: http://www.markbattistaphotography.co.uk

I believe that you must use SmugMug's new Menu content block, which allows "contact" as one of the options. I don't think you can pop up a contact form from an HTML content block.

The only way to use SmugMug's native contact form is like Lamah said: Using the menu content block. You can add as many of these as you like of course so you can just add a new menu to your footer.

An alternative would be to use a Wufoo Form which some other users have used (including me). There are quite a lot of options but unfortunately, the formatting isn't great! :L You add this similarly to the menu - there should be a Wufoo Content Block. You must create your form first though at Wufoo.com

Thanks, I don't mind using a menu content block - how do I do it so I can add it to the footer please? Thanks

You go: Customise > Customise Site

Then, on the right (usually): "Entire Site" in red

Then you can take the content block within navigation and drop it into the footer. From there, you can add a link item which is called a 'contact form' I believe.

Are you using legacy or new smug?

In new smug you should be able to place a menu content element in your footer.
In legacy smug I believe there is a customization that would allow you to reference the contact link from the custom footer.

I'm using the new smugmug - yeah I have my footer defined by css and because it takes up space I can't overlay a content element

hmmm, probably not, it shows an image that stretches according to the size of your browser, on top of that image there are links and also social media image links

It would seem you already have a Menu Bar in the footer, with a link described 'Contact' which goes to the home page.

If you edit that link item, and change the 'Link To' field to 'Contact Form', it should do as you wish.

Hi Dan

Thanks for your reply, I thought it would be pretty simple. I'm not sure what you mean though? I've tried changing the class to 'contact form' and also the href but none of them work

You actually have it working in your main navigation. You want the same functionality right but in the footer?

If you replicate the settings that are in the top menu for the contact link, you should be able to get it working.

Yes I know, thanks. I did this by adding a content block
I can't do that in the footer - I can't find the html link / url for the contact form
I've tried everything
I've searched the code and just can't find it

I believe that you need to add a menu content block in your footer for the contact link.

Thanks for going to the effort to do this. I do know how to do this but I want the link in my footer to work. Previously it has worked in html and just opened up the contact form. There must be code somewhere that will execute the contact form - I just need this piece of code. http://www.markbattistaphotography.co.uk scroll to the bottom - I can't get the contact link to open the contact form. I can't overlay a content navigation thing over the white image that I have - I hope this makes sense?

Not to hijack the thread, but I have a related question. I added the menu block at the top, and tried to add a CONTACT menu item. I selected Add Link, the link to Contact Page. The system will not let me save the link using a Contact Page. I am assumig the Contact Page is already created for me, but maybe I have to do that? For now I just added a text box at the bottom and put my email in there, which does highlight as a mail-to link.

Did you set up and verify the email address to be used with the contact form?

I notice that you use a "mailto" link for visitors to email you directly. This is a very nice and simple solution for contact, but I read somewhere this can lead to robots generating spam to your email - which I don't want. Have you had any issues with that?

Seems as there doesn't seem to be a way - I just used a mailto link as well
