Had a hair and makeup stylist bring some young ladies in to build her portfolio and give me some practice.

Used four different types of lighting .....ring light #5......Paul Buff Moon Light #1&3.....PLM Paul Buff #2-4-6...soft box #7.

Charles, these are interesting shots, but I don't see how these will showcase the hair styling in these models. The hair seems almost de-emphasized in these due to your lighting and cropping.

These were for the makeup gal. Believe me I've got 600 other issues to now workup. I goofed on the title....should have been more about the makeup. I had 7 gals for three hours. Getting too old for that much work and I was really tired after that and it seems to have carried over into today.

I know Smugmug degrades the images a bit, but some of them seem out right OoF

Agree (5 in the first batch and 6 in the second are two examples)

What's the actual purpose of these, Charles? Are they portfolio stuff, or to hang on walls or...? Just curious.

Agreed on some focus issues. I was had holding a Moon Unit that was somewhat unwieldy and I might have bumped the shutter, I'll have to check that. I spent half of today checking the micro focus adjustment of my cameras with lens and they seem to be on. Might have been hitting just ahead or behind the eye.

This was for a Makeup artist who wanted to build a portfolio and for me to play. I did not give the lady enough direction on what the ladies should have worn for my needs so that was my fault as I was totally unhappy with most of the tops the ladies wore.

I particularly like the girl in the half mask. Very dramatic.

Query?: What ringlight did you use in the second set (#s 5,6 & 7)

Here is the ring light I used. It is really bright and you have to use it very close to get a large ring in their eyes. But some can't take the brightness, I had one gal tear up in 3 seconds.

Great work. I really like most of the lighting. My favorite being the bright white background in #2 in both sets. I also like the red. I like the ring light for alla round light but i don't care for the catch light leaves.
