Trying to segregate galleries thumbnails by month

I'm trying to figure out how to get our client galleries page to segregate the gallery links/thumbnails by month like the site I'll be migrating from, but I just can't figure it out!

Here's what our current client galleries page looks like:
https://vando.imagequix.com/galleries.html?id=19S8C9F

And here's what the client galleries page looks like on Smugmug:
http://bluefoxphoto.smugmug.com/Client-Galleries

I tried creating a folder for January 2014 and February 2014, then put each gallery in their respective month's folders, but it displays just one thumb and I don't see an option to have a folder with a thumb link for each gallery. I know if clients click on a folder it'll show all the galleries in that folder, but I want multiple folders scrollable on the client galleries page, and each folder to show all the galleries' representative thumbs, like the vando site we currently use. I hope that's making sense, hopefully looking at the linked examples will make it more clear.

Thanks for any and all suggestions!

Create a folder and choose what galleries go in it. Title the folder with the date.
Create another folder and choose what galleries go in it. Title the folder with the date.
Do this for each date folder you need.

When you manually "choose" they are sorted in the order you choose.

I've done basically the same but already have sub-folders by date. You would choose what's in each.

    Click each month.

Thanks for the feedback. The problem I'm running into, and the same thing I see in your example, is that I want to show thumbnails of each sub-gallery so that when the monthly gallery links are shown, there's a thumbnail for each of that month's galleries. For instance, your January 2014 gallery shows one bird, presumably one you picked, but perhaps not. In my instance, it picks a random thumbnail from one of my client galleries and shows ONLY that thumbnail. If you refer to the link to what we currently use, you'll see what I mean. Any way to get that look in Smugmug? If not, could be a deal-breaker.

The only way I can think of getting that look is to build your own pages. The standard smug folders to galleries show a level (like all folders at the same level), then when you click on the folder it shows all galleries (or folders) in that folder.

Thank you, Denise. How does one go about building their own smugmug pages? That was one of the things I was hoping to avoid.

Go into the organizer, select the level at which you'd like to place the page (top level or within a folder), click +Create, click Page.

Once the page is created you can drag content blocks to it. To build the structure you referenced you will need a combination of text blocks to represent the year and folder or gallery blocks (from the Navigation section) to show the galleries for each year.
