Second shot is bit unusual for night shot.

There is no haze, no yellow flare anywhere, no dark areas with spotty purple noise, no streaks of rainbow colored light in the sky, everything is in focus but foggy out of focus bokeh'd lights are missing, no star bursts with orange haze around them to mellow out all the details nearby, and glare is no where to be found.

Everything is nice and crisp so I am not sure what to make of this shot.ne_nau.gif

Love the second shot. I need to visit the observatory again. It's been several years since I went there to photograph. Been up a few times to run the hilly trails around it but not to shoot.

I love the second image. And I'm not sure what Stumblebum is talking about. It looks like a perfectly exposed image, most likely after rain. I also see that unmistakable L.A. haze.

Thanks all. Yea this was taken after a storm, clearing away a lot of the smog we have here. Hard to get a good visible shot of the skyline otherwise.

Really like the second one. The layers with the mountain, city and sky make it interesting and the color is awesome!

Nice well balanced shots. Good composition as well. The warm colors of the city help with balancing the shots.
