I thought trying to shoot a product of some type would be a good exercise. So I poked around and read up on shooting bottles and came up with this creation. This is all hobby to me for now, but any comments or thoughts on how things might have been done different/better would be much appreciated.

I tried this a while back and had great luck using a piece of foamcore painted gold as a reflector. Gives the bottle a very warm look.

I read about the foamcore trick somewhere and it seemed like a great idea. Cut the piece in the shape of the bottle and a bit smaller. I used a metallic gold paint.

That's almost what I did here.....

I saw a picture of a Coke bottle initially and tried to follow how that was done. Basically I put the unopened bottle on the purple bag on top of a box of drill bits on a card table. Behind that about 12" was a 20" soft box. Between the Crown and soft box was a black strip of foam core board that I had traced the outline of the bottle on, then cut a tad bit smaller. Camera was on a tripod and lining it all up took the most time with little trimming of the foam core here and there to provide the rim light. I used a gridded spot camera left and up about 45* to light the front, and a white reflector to illuminate the bottle right side from the gridded light. I just played with flash power to get the right illumination.

    Here's the pullback....
