Hi,

I am really out of my depth and need help. I want to add my email adress to the bottom of my pages so people can contact me if they want to. How do I go about doing this.

Also, how do I add a banner across the bottom of the page to announce new galleries.

And, sorry, how do I go about adding another page about myself. Virtually want a page similar to the front page but with the ability of being able to simply write text about myself or anything else.

many thanks in advance,
Grant

To add your email address to the bottom of your pages you can either drag an HTML block to the bottom of "Entire Site" and use HTML to insert a link, or you can drag a menu content block to the same location and use the built-in contact form. If you want to use the contact form you first need to set up and verify your contact email. See help page at http://help.smugmug.com/customer/portal/articles/1248294-create-a-contact-page.

To add a banner across the bottom of the page, drag a content element to the bottom of entire site. You will need to decide what type of contact element you want to use.

To add a page, go into the organizer, click either the top entry of your site or a folder in which you want the page to reside, click the Create button, click Page.

You might find this tutorial helpful - http://school.smugmug.com/SmugMug-Tips/SmugMug-In-5-Minutes-or-Less.

If you run into problems post back with specific questions. Also, it's much easier to help you with a link to your site. Click the clipboard icon on the navbar above, then Edit Signature. Begin your link with http:// to make it clickable.

Thank you Denise, I understand a bit more now than yesterday.... however ..... I am beginning to think I cant do a contact email until I actually switch to the new smugmug. Is this correct? I can not find my profile page in the new smugmug site I am setting up and if I go back to the legacy site, I already have my email address there but it does not ask for verification. Hope this makes sense.

Also about the extra page. I followed the instructions but when I clicked on the link on the homepage to go to the new page I had set up, I opened up a whole new window. It did not seem to be linked to the other site like my gallery pages. Not sure if I have to now copy that URL to my link so it stays on my site. Hope this makes sense to you.

    many thanks

I have tried to do my signature but it will not let me access GGRIN at the moment for some reason.

To get to your profile, click the icon representing you in the top navbar when you are logged in to smugmug, then click Profile.

How did you set up the link on your homepage to get to the page? Is it in a content element? If it is, make sure the property "Open Link in New Tab" is set to Off.

    nearly there
    Hi,

thank you so much for your help. I am nearly ready to publish however I am finding a little problem with my home page.

The side bar on the home page does not go all the way to the bottom of the page. This is causing some of my menu to be outside the sidebar. If I go to my next page I have made, the same theme side bar goes all the way down and looks good.

When I try to scroll down on some computers, I am finding the front page does not fit or will not let me scroll down. It appears to jump and so I can not access the full menu. On my computer at home it works fine but I have a nice big screen. At work the computers are a lot smaller screen size. Is this going to be a problem when I get to publish.

I wanted to change the text colour but I am assuming because I picked a certain theme, I am locked into the colour of the theme.

Hope you can help as I really want to publish

    Many thanks

I have been reading other peoples little problems and thought I had worked out the problem. Someone else was having a similar problem and the answer was to unpin the Smugmug header. I have tried this but still the same problem. The front page will scroll down and then immediately jump back to the top of the page and lose any scrolling space. It becomes stuck and I can not see the rest of the menu on the side bar.

Someone here commented that they wondered if it had anything to do with my name of the site (Grant Schwartzkopff Photography) being pinned and so the page seems to always scroll back to the top. As far as I can see, everything is unpinned and correct.

    Hoping you can help

It sounds like you may have extra margin/padding making it do that. Unfortunately until you publish it, I can't help. ne_nau.gif
