Congrats!!!! You are going to be amazed at the IQ that lens will produce. I have an older AFS version that I've used for 6 years, and it stil amazes me at the Image Quality. Just be careful with it at the MX track, since you can't put a protective filter on it. (MX track is the only place I use filters) I've shot with my 300F4 at the track, because I can put a nice,expensive filter on it. But I'll probably never shoot my 300F2.8 at the track. Mainly because I rarely shoot MX anymore.
