Fun set of portraits for friends
C&C Always welcome!
Did this fun set as a favour for the friends who gave us our Beardie girl (the grey one with the cute hairbows that I posted a while back ). These are friends of many years who have always been so kind to us, and it was an absolute pleasure to finally be able to do something for THEM!! Strictly speaking, it was just supposed to be some shots of the puppies for their new owners (I wanted to go play with them anyway!!), but it expanded a bit beyond that... lol
Purple dining room wall + table covered with black blanket on the grooming table; a few were done with my popup black bg behind which made for easier post as I didn't have to clone out some stuff on the wall, but I don't like as much as the purple, which I thought looked great. Mix of 7d (faster AF for puppies!) and 5dii; Tam 24-70; single speedlight in an umbrella (decided with 7 dogs and a small space I should keep it simple!). I do think I might have preferred shooting manual flash instead of ETTL, but that didn't occur to me until it was all over (I'm so used to shooting ettl in mixed/changing light that it didn't occur to me. Duh.)
PS I feel like my colour mght be weird - not sure if my calibration has changed or what, but they keep looking odd to me. Please let me know how it looks on your monitors..............
Setup/room
1. These were supposed to be all about the dogs, but I was SO pleased to the way they came out, and the reaction made me SO SO happy: this beautiful young woman struggles with self-image/confidence but she said, "I saw these pictures and started singing 'I feel pretty oh so pretty' in my head." So rewarding to be able to show her how the rest of the world sees her!!!!!! :lust :lust
2. This is their 12yo boy - not the father of this litter, but many others for them.
3. Beardie babies are sickeningly cute
4. and full of personality!
6 The litter has beer names - I got lucky and found this barrel planter at a dollar store!!
7 Another friend was there to help puppy-wrangle, and she asked if I'd take some of her adorable 1yo girl

You did really well with her glasses on #1 Perfect placement with no glare.

With the animals bring a paper bag and keep it handy, when your ready rustle the bag and the ears pop up and the head tilts automatically.

by far, my favourite work from you. Congratulations on a fantastic set.
PS: next time a kid gives you a hard time, you should take a dog to the set ;-)

I love the purple wall. #3 & #6 are wonderful. I love the barrel prop. It just works.
Nice portrait in #1. Glasses with no glare = awesome. My only itty bitty nit is the hair elastic on your friend's wrist. I don't think I have a picture of my daughter without one on her arm, so I tend to notice those straight off. It doesn't really bother me, but I still notice them & wish they weren't there. It is a lovely shot of your friend and I wouldn't take my little picky point too seriously.

Mitchell, these little guys were SO SO good. I think they are THE MOST laid-back bunch of beardie babies I've ever met. Plus they were on the table, so we had some degree of control lol
Hack, there were 4 of us chirping and squeezing squeaky toys and all the rest. But we never did get ALL of them looking the same way at once. lol. Fortunately, they came up with their own cute, so it's all good
Spread the love! Go comment on something!
