Corinthian

This one just sold for a spring catalog cover! Corinthian is an Arabian stallion, standing in Ramona California. He'd been confined for 5 weeks with a suspected stress fracture, and this was his first time out after confirmation that nothing was wrong. He was wearing protective boots so he wouldn't tear himself up. I'll put up the "before" if anyone wants to see the miracle of Photoshop removing fence, dog, etc.

    Thanks guys, here's the before.
Lynne these are great as always. Initially the "after" shot would not open so luckily I found him in your Portraits gallery. More luckily, I found your shot of the Pluto in Baroque. So good: my last horses were two from my Anglo-Arab mare by a Pluto imported from the Spanish Riding School. Sadly he had only sired a few purebred foals in Australia when he died in a colic attack. Your Corinthian is lovely, (and congrats) but the Pluto - well, to me nothing matches the Lipizzaners, thank you for that image: I will visit him there now and then together with your other beautiful horse portraits.

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

I love the Lipizzan crosses too--and shot the Lipp evals in AZ in Sept, handed off the camera and handled Pluto Carrma III (Pooka), Twix's daddy for his evaluation. I'll probably have a purebred someday, they are indeed special horses and there is nothing quite like being selected as Their Human. It happened with Twix right after she drew her first breath--eyes locked with mine, and she nickered. Forget imprinting her, she imprinted ME! eek7.gif There are 300+ images of my darling girl on my site.

I absolutely LOVE your work.. equine is most of what I shoot as well, I just can't wait till I get a better camera. I love Arabians, although I myself have a Quarter Horse and a Morgan/TB.. once again, lovely pictures.

Thanks--don't let the camera hold you back. It takes more skill to use a camera without the bells and whistles, sure, but great images can be created. There's still a bunch on my site done with a 2 mpx camera, including action (learn to anticipate). I learned with a basic film camera that had nothing automatic, not even light metering, but digital sure speeded up the improvements.

Thanks, Harry, Phil, Thusie! His owner will be thrilled to hear about the cover, as a stallion owner, they're always seeking ways to promote his, uh, services.

Did you see my Fjord shots? I love shooting them. One was on the beach, and loved to go.

My Q horse goes through life asking "can I eat that?" instead of spooking. What he loves best about endurance rides is the constant smorgasbord and room service.
