Doesn't have to be black and white, but does have to be (my opinion only) back lit so that it is just an outline against a brighter area. Can be full color. Look at Joyce's examples.

I did and her first one is more side light than anything but -- clouds are back lit if on a bad weather day the earth is dark the clouds are in the way headscratch.gif
Use your imagination on this one and get creative! It can be inside or outside. I did press this comment a bit far but it was back lit

I can't see the first one anymore, and I did not see the wine glass until it was pointed out. But what I remember is that it was blue sky and whispy white clouds which had no depth to them and little substance. Clouds which are going to be a silhouette should have one or the other (my opinion) I wasn't going to participate in this one, because last time my silhouettes weren't very good, but maybe I will try again.

it can be color or black and white. The image itself should not have much details in it. The eagle image could work, but it might even be better if you post process to get it even more darker to remove the grey areas.

Well this is not my game also but my wine glass was pushing the silhouette a bit tooo far

I like the last one. To make the diagonal even stronger, you might play with the crop and space on the right. This one could stand a tight crop. Nice.

Sharp enough and Pointed too :)

I agree that a crop might help. Squarer?

I also like the last one. Others may disagree, but I welcome seeing a hint of the depth in a silhouette if there is significant depth in the image. So if the perch slants away from you toward the bird, I wonder what this would look like with some of that revealed? Hope that helps!

I think the bird is cuter in the second one HAHAHA!

Aside from that, I just love the profile silhouette of the bird and the detail in the feathers. I'd adjust the contrast to lighten the background a little more, but it. There's something very quiet and calming about this photo, but also somehow seems like the bird is alert and ready to take off if necessary. Really nice :)
