Horned Lark
Sounds like winter has frustrated a lot of us. All the clouds, cold, rain, snow has made photographing birds very challenging :cry
We had a couple hours of sunshine this morning, so I headed down to the lake. Was able to capture a few shots of these guys, the clouds started to come in making the lighting not so great and I wasn't able to get as close I'd like, but I'll take what I can get this time of year.

I think these images succeed because they are near the birds eye level - they were not shot from way above them, you were not quite laying done in the grass, but I'll bet you were getting close. And it looks cold and muddy on the ground too.

Yes it gets very cold in northern Nevada. The south is another story all together. Almost like 2 different states.
As you noted Path I did get pretty low to shoot these guys. I considered getting all the way prone, but it would have made a long walk home all wet, soggy and muddy. :uhoh Although, I think it would have been ideal to shoot them from a prone position.

Excellent. You make even the tiny birds look beautiful, which proves it's the eye of the photographer that makes the art.

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"
