While on safari in Tanzania we got to witness a lion pride when one of the lionesses caught a new born wildebeest.

the other pride members were kind of interested

Some assertiveness was called for

its mine!

a small lick

one of the cubs gets too close

while fending off in one direction a pride member comes in from the other side

and the chase is on

eventually matters calm down and the pride has a snack

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

The wildebeest seemed relieved that the pride had stopped their stalking. Thanks Jeff.

This was a great sighting. In all of my safaris, it's probably a top five. Well done, Harry!

Harry, that is one TERRIFIC series! The best action shots in a series I have ever seen. I love the one where you caught the lion pouncing almost from a lying down posture when the cub got too close. Keep working--hopefully you have many more to post. Your trips are the closet I am going to get to Africa. Best, Pam

Love the threatening pose on the protective female and the chase sequence Harry, have recently returned from Ndutu & Ruaha NP- Tanzania myself. (I notice the 4:5 crop. what did you shoot with?)
Had a very productive time, hosting some workshop classes and time on my own @ Ruaha also.

I shot with the D4 and the D800E with the 70-200 VRI 2.8 and the 200-400 VRI f/4 plus various TCs.

I have always found that anytime spent in Africa to be productive.

Absolutely Harry, so why the 4:5 format, these need to be displayed in all it's wonderful 4:6 format don't you think?

Most of the requests for prints I get are for 8X10s. I still have all the originals if I decide to print in a different format.
