Hi folks. Been a while since I posted. I need help identifying this little bird I shot in Costa Rica last week. It was perched near a stream running through a meadow in which cows were grazing. It was perhaps four inches long. I did not hear a call.

Hardly a wild guess, and certainly closer than anything I've come up with. Every photo I've been able to find of grasshopper sparrows shows an dark stripe behind the eye, even juveniles. This one doesn't seem to show that. Also, the grasshopper sparrow shows a blonde/buff eyebrow in front. This critter is definitely darker in front of the eye than behind. I certainly agree it's probably not a finch. I wish it'd sounded off.
