I am currently using JFriend's Slideshow on my home page. I was recently at an event where Smugmug staff attended and while there they tried to encourage me to get changed over to the new Smugmug. After looking at my site they assured me they could do everything in the new smug that I was doing... but after 30 minutes of customization they told me there was no way to match the slideshow.

With my current site, I have the options set to make the picture the proportion of the screen and the largest size possible. This works well for the images I display because most of them are centered. I get many comments on the images on my home page and I believe this "large" display of images gets me work.

I really want to move over to the new smugmug platform. Anyone have any work arounds that will give me the same look and function?

What have you tried? Have you tried dragging a slideshow content block onto your homepage? Or have you tried the full-screen homepage slideshow?

I think my homepage has close to the look you are after but it's a single photo as opposed to a slideshow.

I just did some playing with the slideshow content block on a page. It's close but it doesn't extend as far to the edges as your current slideshow. I find it interesting that a single photo block can extend closer to the edges of the browser window than a slideshow can.

    Here's a link to the page where I was playing - http://www.denisegoldberg.com/TestSlideshow/n-brMrP.
Warning: if you're looking for this page and it's a good way past the date of this post, the page may no longer be there since it's just an experiment.
For a contrast, here's a link to my homepage that currently contains a single photo content block - http://www.denisegoldberg.com.

Even with a homepage slideshow not as wide as your current slideshow I would recommend moving to new SmugMug. Your galleries pages are not doing a good job of highlighting your work with the small thumbs of legacy smug.

I think it's constrained by the browser window height. Blew browser full screen and show filled height.
So thinking height is adjusted and not sides.

I think you're right. I just realized why the single photo block extends closer to the edge of the browser window - the single photo isn't constrained by browser window height, there is a scroll bar. But the slideshow is constrained by height.

I think you are all right. I do not like the way the slideshow shrinks to fit the size of the window. Very few people browse my site except my existing customers. The home page a few others I point people directly to are the only ones non customers go to. I put portrait and landscape pictures into this slideshow and no matter what they are full screen with my top nav... no matter what size or shape your browser is. I love it! I understand it wouldn't work well for everyone but it works well for me. I point it to images from my most recent event and that is what is showcased. I don't have to resize etc.. Most of my images have the subject in the center... that's the reason it works for me. So far I haven't found a way to replace it
