I did not frame it, I wanted to wait and see what I think. I think the poster treatment is too heavy for this photo. It is more of an art photo, IMO.

But I wanted to post it, so here it is, uh, naked.

Very, very nice. The boats remind me of the boat my dad, brother and I went deep sea fishing on once.

I put a frame on and kind of signed it, dated it

And I worked this one up, too. I had looked down for something, when I looked up this small boat was all the way up to these shrimp boats, from where I don't know. The man is bundled up, you all might notice: cold.
I quickly shot this and a few others. This was the first one, and it works the best, too.

Someone might notice the bird on the very top of this boat's "things". There were all sorts of birds around, and I was quite tempted, as the compulsive birder that I am, to put my 400 on and take some shots, but I resisted the temptation. I am pretty sure that this bird is a great blue Heron. It just looks like it to me, though the perch is a bit unusual, so maybe I will regret not having shot the bird.

Thanks, Erich. These boats will go out for days at a time. One of them recently came in from a week or more out in/on the ocean (and it is cold, too).

Thanks, Mikko, I appreciate you both stopping and commenting.

Ginger, I really like this one. thumb.gifthumb.gif

I arrive in Summerville Saturday night and stay until about Friday of next week. Maybe we can take a few together while I'm down this time.

    Ginger,

Here is the first photo done with nik Color Efex Pro filters. The filters used were the Brilliance/Warmth Filter and the Darken/Lighten Center Filter plus a little PSCS2 saturation added. These are the ones we discussed in our PMs.

How do I get the filters? Can I enter that one as you did it?

Uh, I can make the original size available for you post haste, on my site.

Would you please do the original???

I understand that is OK for photographers to have help in post. In fact, some don't do post. That used to be my dream.

    Smile.

    I love it!

ginger (Sorry to be so intrusive, but we are leaving tomorrow AM, so my time to get this challenge thing settled is limited....................however, if your time is limited, too, don't worry.) Believe me, I do understand this "time" thing.

    Ginger,

You can use that one with my best wishes.

I can do the original, but it has to be fast because Judy and I leave in about an hour and a half for the first leg of our trip. We're going to Winston-Salem, NC prior to heading to the Charleston area on Saturday.

Give me the link to the original and I'll work it up for you.

Here is the link to the nik site: nik Color Efex Pro.

I love the 1st one Ginger. So peaceful and the way the sun is shining on the fronts of the boats and masts accents them so well. The tiny bit of ripple on the water adds to the feel of the whole shot.

I always found the life of a fisherman so interesting. It is just so different to all of us earth-bound types (or air-bound like I've been lately!).

Hi Ginger, I really like this one. The light is gorgeous and your tratment of the subject is charming.

Sorry that Glennie and I haven't been around much of late. We've moved. Not too far but we're not rural any more and I'm having a little trouble with our new environment. Time to take my own advice and get out there and "Work the Land'mwink.gif

Ginger - clap.gifclap.gifclap.gif one of your best, girlie! Yes indeedy. This is a wall hanger. And I'm sure there are restaurants in Charleston that would pay for this to hang on their walls!

For giggles: gaussian blur applied to the water; 10% shadow/highlight recovery; and a black/white dropper curves adjustment. Just quick and dirty - on your -L image - but you get the idea - I'd be much more careful doing the water blur on the full image.

    Hopefully you don't mind!

    Great shot, Ginger :D

I shadow/highlighted 10%, curved it a bit, and upped the sat a bit (ala Andy and Dixie). I did not do the filter thing and did not add more blur. But I did do the rest. I hope it is an improvement, smile.
