On the shore at Arnside itself, there are some old finishing nets just lying around. Looks like they have been there for years, though on the half-dozen visits I have probably made to this village, it's the first time I have seen them.

The last one for me, Paul. That great rock and foreground really play off each other nicely. The leading lines into the row-houses are working very nicely here as well. thumb.gif

    Thank you.

Not my forte so I am reasonably happy with these.

I'm with Joel on the last one. Clouds almost make it look like it was raining. And the rock in the foreground really leads the eye. Nice.

    good, but.....
While these are all technically well taken photographs, none of them make me say oooooh, ahhhh.

If I was forced to choose one, I would also say #4, i like the rock in the foreground, hotel in the bg with the looming storm clouds. I want to like these, but they just don't really grab my attention. I don't want to rain on your parade by any means and don't say this to be mean in any way, just want to give you an honest assessment from my pov....

There it is, no hard feelings I hope ne_nau.gif

Look forward to seeing some other shots from you, it does look like an interesting area.

    Thanks Lee.

I'm still a novice with landscapes, so scope to improve. :)

    Paul.

keep going and you will, sometimes you will get an awesome shot and sometimes, even though you're past the novice stage, you still get the not so great shots... example being the one I posted the other day.... sunrise at that locale will rarely produce anything great and I need to realize it and adjust.... I posted so folks could see the sunrise and hash all over me for what is wrong with it, I need the c&c also, it's good to be kept humbled by your peers....

If this area was near where you live, I would think you should explore it a bit more... the landscape does look like it could offer up some neat shots.... study your sunrise/sunset times and moon phases/passes - it may help you decide when and where to shoot. Start with the general area you like and start forming ideas of what would make the coolest shot, imagine your best composition, time of day, weather, lighting, etc - watch the weather patterns and jump on them when things line up..... a little planning goes a long ways to make a great landscape shot.

I will look forward to your future postings....
