Elephant Safari Park, Bali, Indonesia
Hey Everyone,
The picture that Oakley posted from the Elephant Nature Park in Thailand made me want to post these pictures from the Elephant Safari Park in Bali, Indonesia from this past summer. I'm putting them in here, though, not in the Whipping post!
From just the one picture that Oakley posted, I think the 2 parks are different. In Bali, you can go on an elephant ride, and then they have an elephant show. There are no free roaming elephants, though... All the elephants are Sumatran elephants, imported and then cared for at the park. Sumatran elephants are the smallest of the elephant breeds (African are the largest).
I must say, I was impressed by the control the handlers had of the animals. My favorite example is on one part of the ride, we were going down a little hill. Our elephant, Adilia, went after a coconut and dropped it. Well, it started rolling down the hill and Adilia started running after it. The handler told Adlila to stop, and she did. I was impressed. Don't worry, though... She got one later (see 2nd photo).
This little guy is 2 years old:
Ever try to open a coconut... Well when you have big feet and weigh a lot, it's pretty easy. (sorry it is blurry)
Smile!
The handler gave our camera to another staff person and then told the elephant to spray the water!
Last one: At the show, the elephants played some hoops...

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"
