I want to remove the text that accompanies a link in social media

when i post a link to a gallery on Facebook etc...i get a text box under it that says "smugmug, home to millions of happy etc......."

can i change or remove that text? i'm using it as a blog so i'd like to have text that is relevant to my post if possible

    Well you can edit that text when you go to post. Or you can edit your sites meta description and it can pull that when you go to post.

    As Smug Eric said you need to change your site meta description.

    Go to account settings... Discovery... Search...
    Fill in the homepage meta description.

    You may also want to add a description to your site profile.

    ok. how and where do I go to do that?

    I don't think I can edit the text when I post the link though because the box that is inserted by the link is an image.

    I think you're right because it's happened to me.
    And I do have a meta description.

    I think it has to do if you're linking to a video versus a photo, or a gallery without photos. I haven't pinned down the cause but I've had links post properly, and not properly, and I haven't narrowed down the conditions that cause this.

    ok denise, you are right. I changed the meta description but that the issue is that i'm using it as a blog post. so I'd like the link to be a brief description of each blog post. this means each time I link it I need the description to be different.

    one more question. is there a recycle time? I changed the meta description on home page meta stuff but when I post the link my old description still comes up. any ideas?
