Please help! I want all my albums listed on the home page. NOT FOLDERS

Hello All... I switched over to smug mug after my web provider webshots went away. I am by no means savvy when it comes to 'creating' pages.

I just want my page simple so my family can access all my photos. Like the legacy smugmug layout. (I shouldn't have switched over)

Can someone give me steps in laymans terms on how to show all of my galleries/aka albums on my home page? I have several albums on the home page but there are also the folders "other" and "vacation" listed where the albums are within the folder where you must click in deeper to get to the albums/galleries. I want all the albums up front.

I am not a professional photgrapher and I'm afraid smug mug looks to be focused towards them. Very confusing on how to change things.

Any help would be appreciated.

I used to have my legacy smugmug the same way -- just a big list of all my galleries (albums) that someone could scroll through and find quite easily. Unfortunately SmugMug got rid of this feature in the New SmugMug. I exchanged a number of emails with them and still can't fathom why they would completely get rid of a feature that was so prominent in their old system (you could display only by folder or a full list of galleries).

I had to settle for organizing things into folders first, which are displayed on the home page, and then having the galleries displayed in there :(

How to change the name of an album/gallery?
Ok... How do i change the name of the folder a gallery is in? instead of "other" I want it in "vacation" or otherwise. How do I change the name of an album period?

Also.. There ARE albums that are on my home page. These albums WERE NOT initiated to be in "other" or "Vacation" or "people".... So they are flat out.. on my home page as an album. right there.

    • To change the name of a folder, go into the organizer, click the folder, click settings.
    • To change the name of a gallery, go into gallery settings, change the name. You might also want to change the nice name so the URL matches.
    • To move a gallery into a different folder, go into the organizer, open the folder containing the gallery, drag the gallery to a different folder.

You can also go into the organizer, as denise mentioned, and instead of clicking on buttons, you can just drag the galleries into different folders on the sidebar.

How can i get rid of the 'folder' a gallery is under?
My galleries/albums are under 'folders'... ie "vacation", "other" etc.

How can I get rid of the folder a gallery is under? How can I remove the folder level for a gallery..

See the screen print below of my home page.

    I have 3 "FOLDERS" labeled:
    OTHER
    ST. JOHN
    CAT'S PROM

I ALSO HAVE individual albums/galleries listed
    Van- High School
    2009 Bruice Austin
    2014 MOM & DAD

How do I get rid of the "folder" info ("OTHER", "ST. JOHN", "CAT'S PROM") so that all of those galleries under these folders show up like the other 3 galleries (THAT ARE NOT UNDER A 'FOLDER')? ("Van-High School", "2009 Bruce Austin". "2014 MOM & DAD")

If I understand correctly, you want to move all galleries under the folders? If so, just move (drag/move) them out of the folders.

It will not let me move the albums out of the folders. It will only let me move albums that are under a 'folder' to another 'folder'. BUt not out on their own.

If you want to move it out of a folder, open the folder that contains the gallery in Organizer. Select the gallery on the right, then drag it to the top level of your site - on top of your site name.

It worked for me when I tried it yesterday.

How did you try to move it?

If you want them to be the "top level" you need to drag it onto the "crazy4bruce" text ... which is your "top level folder". That should work

Thank you Leftquark... I tried that. It won't let me drop it.

I tried to drag the gallery "Van-High School" up to "crazy4bruce". It does not take. It says rag to a highlighted area only... and the only areas it lets me put it in are the folders "other" "vacation" or "st. john". UGH!

That's because "Van - High School" is already in your main, top folder.
