Why do I not see full breadcrumb?

Ok, so I feel dumb asking this question, but here it is: why do I not see the full breadcrumb on my Galleries? As an example, in my Landscapes gallery:
http://www.alicethompsonphotography.com/Landscapes/
I only see the Homepage icon and "Landscapes" in the breadcrumb. What I prefer, is to see this path:
Homepage > Galleries > Landscapes, so that the viewer could just click the Galleries part of the breadcrumb to get back to my main Galleries page (which is the Browse/Buy button in the top nav).

As it is now, the viewer has to know to click Browse/Buy in the top nav to get back to my other galleries, and I have no doubt been losing people that way.

I have breadcrumbs turned on for all galleries, but am I doing something wrong?

Thanks!

Alice

The only way I can see to solve this is create a top level folder named "Galleries" and move all your folders up into it.
In this top level folder "Galleries" place what you want in it.
Browse is not part of a path but shows all top level folders.

Edit: In legacy Smug there was the homepage category/gallery box you could turn on to display
    either categories or galleries.
A hack was created in legacy to create a duplicate homepage to show only this category/gallery
box. That was essentially what "browse" is now. So now "browse" shows all top level folders. The
browse page can be customized to show only the folders you want.

    Hi Allen,

The Galleries are all separate from the Folders. I use Folders for my private client galleries (which are password protected). Separate from that is all the Galleries. So here's my structure:
    Folder (Clients)
    - Client 1
    - Client 2
    Gallery Landscapes
    Gallery Sky
    Gallery blah blah blah

Then I have Pages which are unlisted (so they don't show from the main Browse/Buy page). The Browse/Buy used to be called Galleries (I think), but I changed it when customizing the site.

So am I not unable to have this same structure AND have full breadcrumbs?

I attached a screengrab of my organization in case that helps.

    Thanks!i-QLD3KHr.jpg

I edited my last post to add some info.

With your name highlighted (top) create a folder named Galleries. Move all the galleries you want into it,
the ones now on your browse page. This will add the breadcrumb level of Galleries.

    Folder (Clients)
    - Client 1
    - Client 2
    Folder Galleries
    - Gallery Landscapes
    - Gallery Sky
    - Gallery blah blah bla

So instead of browse/buy in your nav you could change it to galleries/buy or keep it the same.

Ah, thanks Allen. Now I remember why I moved all my Galleries out of the galleries folder. While it does enable a more full breadcrumb, it also requires the viewer to perform an extra click, which I find really annoying. As an example, I moved my Decay gallery into the new Galleries Folder as you suggested. Here's the navigation process now:
    Click Browse/Buy.
Decay gallery shows up as "Galleries" under Folders.
Click "Galleries" shows the gallery thumbnail again. (Seems redundant).
THEN the user clicks on Decay.

So I guess I'm limited to doing it this way (requiring an extra click or two to get into the specific galleries) or having the Galleries NOT inside their own folder at the root level, thereby losing the full breadcrumb.

Hmmm.... I think Smugmug needs to work on that. Neither option seems ideal.

No, don't use "browse", use /Galleries instead. Move everything (galleries) you see on the "browse" page into that folder.
One click to see all your galleries and it is in your breadcrumb.
Change your nav menu link from /browse to /Galleries

So you're saying I just need to rename my Browse/Buy in the top nav back to Galleries, then link that back to the new Galleries folder we created (once I've moved all the separate galleries into that Galleries folder)? Is it just the term "Browse" that it doesn't like for the breadcrumb to work correctly? I could call it "Galleries/Buy"?

You can either leave the wording browse or change to galleries in the menu. The term "browse" is not in any path. You would
be just replacing it with an actually path link /Galleries.

Sorry for being a bit confused. So on the Menu links from the Entire Site, I would set that to the new Galleries folder I've created which now contains the Decay gallery (or to Galleries from "Page I Choose") rather than to the Browse Page as it is now, correct?

In addition, once I move the galleries to the Galleries folder, then "Folders" will be the large text above them, rather than "Galleries" as now, and only one single Gallery will show until the user clicks on it, which will then take them to the galleries nested inside that folder. Weird.

In a perfect world, I'd have the full breadcrumb, all the various galleries would show on the single page as they do now, the text above would show "Galleries" above the actual galleries (beneath the breadcrumb) and the user would only have not have multiple clicks to get inside a particular gallery.

In your menu change /browse to /Galleries

The new /Galleries link will show exactly what your browse page showed before moving galleries
but will be part of the path now.

So every gallery will show this
    home > Galleries > Decay

Another thing I'd do is delete the breadcrumb on your /Galleries page. No need for it there.

Make the /Galleries page custom in the flyout "Make this page Custom" and then highlight "Just this page" before deleting.

I appreciate all your help Allen. I'm not sure why I'm finding this so confusing. I know it shouldn't be this difficult. In the Menu, are you talking about changing the Name of the Link or changing the Link To (from Browse Page to Page I Choose > Galleries)? http://www.alicethompsonphotography.com/photos/i-SGkXJKF/0/O/i-SGkXJKF.jpg

Probably both Custom URL or Page | Choose will work. But the link needs to be changed to
    http://www.alicethompsonphotography.com/Galleries

The text/title can remain the same or whatever you choose.

The Page I Choose seemed to work. I pointed that to the Galleries folder, moved everything inside that folder and all seems to be good. Thank you so much, Allen. My apologies for my confusion. I appreciate your time in helping sort me out. bowdown.gif

I'd look at post 12 and remove the breadcrumb from the /Galleries page.

Also click the box dimensions and set the top margin to 0. Too much blank space at the top.

Thanks Allen. I changed the top spacing. Will look for removing the breadcrumb on the Galleries page.
