This was an exercise in controlling the backgrounds using alien bees and sync speed options when shooting in bright light at the beach. For 1-2 I used a D50 and old 60 2.8 macro. The combo had trouble with focusing, but I was able to get 1/2000 ss at 2.8. 3-4 I used a D300/70-300 VR at 1/250 7.1, trying to get more separation from the background by using a longer lens. The rest were from a D700/85 1.8 using alien bees or a sb-700. Sync issues were not a problem towards sunset and I could use 1.8 to 2.8 with the alien bees.

Sync speed 2000 with the Bees? Sure hope you had something else hooked up. Love the black outfits ones, very nice.

The D50 has an electronic shutter which allows higher shutterspeeds than regular sync. My D50 is on it's last leg so I'm thinking of getting a another D50 or a D70 when I need higher shutterspeeds during midday or bright beach shooting.

12 is my fav and then 7. To "my eye" the mix is a bit caught in the middle, just a smidge/bit to strong of flash in most of them. If you think about it next time try to get more of a mix of looks from your model and not all staring straight into the camera.
She is cute and looks like fun.....nice job, each of these shots is well done.

Thanks, I do have other from the set she isn't looking. Unfortunately she just moved so there will not be anymore with her to refine the poses and looks.

Great Series, I have one observation and that is the skin color just above the bikini slip. That pulls the immediate attention. Maybe a bit of coloring ?
    Otherwise very nice color.

I agree on the tan line. If this were for a submission for publication or portfolio I would spend the time to edit. Of course if it were that serious I would hope she would take care of the tanlines. Since this was just for fun and she wanted beach pics before moving away, I'm not going to spend too much time on it.
