Hi all,

Would appreciate some feedback on:
a) How I can improve my general technique
b) Whether I should do post work on these and what post work would be appropriate.

I havent done any post on these at all and am not sure whether I like them or not. I would like to get to the stage where I can post some finished images up here soon. Any help appreciated,

Cheers, Nigel

I like shots with converging lines, so yes, I'd do some post work on these. Using a wide angle lens causes some of your lines to bow a little. The problem with these graphic images is that in my opinion they work best if you have straight lines. So the first thing I'd do is to make sure that your horizon is not tilted, and that all of you lines are straight.
enjoy being here while getting there

    Thanks Marlof.

I have done some post work on the first one and thought I would put it back up. I tried to get the horizon fixed so that it didnt dip down to the centre but it just didnt look right.

    What I did:

    - Crop, sharpen, levels
    - Remove my shadow
    - Darkened sky, cyan filter to water
    - had to desharpen the boat ramp in lower left corner (It looked wrong after sharpening)
-Applied Radiant Filter from Virtual Photographer (optikvervelabs.com)

    What do you think?

    Cheers

I like leading lines also but I don't think they work for #1 and #3. There is no unity in #1. I feel split between the sailboats and all the heavy concrete on the right. For #3, the real interest is the rainbow, sky and water...but it's way too small compared to the foreground.

#2 has potential so you may want to play with contrast. Problem is I don't think the lighting is helping you on this shot.
