Wright Brothers Memorial

I'm on the way back to NY for a few weeks, and made a little detour to visit the Wright Brothers Memorial in Kill Devil Hills, NC, a place I've wanted to visit for a long time.
- Memorial tower on the sand dune where the Wrights performed glider flights to prepare for their powered flight.

- Wilbur Wright

- Stone marks the takeoff spot for the Wrights' first flight, with stone monuments marking each flight's length.

- 12 Seconds that changed the world.

- First Flight a life-size bronze sculpture, dedicated in December 2003 to mark the centennial of the Wrights first flight.

- The sculpture recreates the famous photograph of the first flight taken by John Daniels. Daniels had never seen a camera before he was asked by the Wrights to photograph their flight, thus becoming the first aviation photographer.

- Where it all began.

- The obligatory night shot...
